Hi, I'm James. I write code and sometimes it results in something great...
Other times I'm banging my head against a wall for 'unrelated' reasons.

whoami
tldr: I'm a data scientist / software developer / average runner / fair-weather cyclist from Cambridge, UK. You know, the one with the fancy university that I didn't get in to.
I'm a "Senior Data Scientist" at AstraZeneca where I spend most of my time doing full-stack software development. My team supports web lab scientists by creating tools that help them automate, capture and visualise their data.
I've been working at AZ in Cambridge since 2019 where I started as an apprentice whilst completing an MSc in Bioinformatics. Since then, I've had the privelege of working on some really cool projects that have provided learning opportunities at every step! My biggest passion is in creating bespoke solutions to simplify the way people do things - making it easier to get new medicines to patients.

Surprisingly, there isn't an action shot of me doing any programming, so you'll have to imagine this is me.
My experience working in a small team has exposed me to many different technologies in the full-stack world. I'm most comfortable speaking in Java (it was my first love) but I enjoy having a go at anything.
When I'm not working, you can often find me plodding around the local countryside trying to beat a Strava segment PB.
If the weather is nice I might even drag the bike out, who knows. If all else fails and there's no football on I'll be programming, reading or reading about programming. I'm a simple man.
If any of this rambling has whet your appetite, get you can always read my CV...
